About High Desert River Outfitters

Based in Maupin, Oregon, High Desert River Outfitters, Inc. is a family-owned and operated Oregon company with more than 30 years professional experience guiding trips on Oregon Rivers, beginning as early as 1984. HDRO and Rapid River Rafters merged together in 2004 and have continued to grow and expand to 3 different rivers with multiple trip options.

Rafting trips with HDRO are exciting and fantastic for all ages and levels of ability. Each trip is specially tailored to the needs of your group, no matter how small or large. Our office is easy to locate in Maupin, Oregon right on HWY 197, just west of the bridge over the Deschutes River. Upon making a reservation, we’ll send you a welcome package with directions, maps, checklists, and everything you need to ensure an enjoyable trip. Equipment
Only state of the art white water inflatables are used. Coast Guard approved America’s Cup life vests and commercial quality outdoor adventure gear is provided. We provide all necessary equipment for your trip, including life jackets, oars and paddles, frames, and helmets upon request. On the multi-day trips the guides prepare all meals and clean up so all you have to worry about is enjoying your trip. On extended day trips, we include a checklist of proper clothing and personal items, such as a sleeping bag, tent, etc.

Safety
All HDRO guides are trained extensively in swift-water rescue and safety and river physiology.
All guides are certified in First Aid and CPR, and most have advanced first-aid certifications.
Our goal is to make your trip as fun, exciting, and safe as possible.

Licensing and Insurance
HDRO operates under a special use permit with Klamath Willamette National Forest, plus BLM in Grants Pass, Falls, Prineville and Vale. We are an equal opportunity outdoor recreation service provider. We also maintain current License with the Oregon State Marine Board. HDRO provides all necessary permits and insurance with each trip. All you have to do is enjoy the ride!

 

The Guides:
Our seasoned, white water certified guides are knowledgeable, fun and down to earth. All are licensed in First Aid and CPR, many with advanced certifications. Our guides passion for rivers and the desire to share them with others make for a highly enjoyable, safe and truly unforgettable adventure.

The Meals:
We have well prepared quality fare. Vegetarian meals are no problem. We are happy to accommodate any special dietary requests. We use only the freshest and highest quality foods available.

The Service:
For more than 30 years, High Desert River Outfitters has provided outstanding river adventures for families, non-profits, corporations, schools and groups of all kinds. From our regularly scheduled trips on Lower Deschutes, Rogue, Klamath, Owyhee, Grande Ronde, Klickatat, and N. Santiam rivers to totally customized trips, we do it all!

The Retail Products:
We offer competitively priced self-bailing white water rafts and inflatable kayaks as well as NRS cam-straps, raft repair supplies, Igloo water jugs, river toilet systems, Roll-A-Tables and more.
